Where do they live? She lives in Davenport, IA

 

How did they get started? Cadena took classes high school and college. She prefers darkroom photography better than a normal digital photo, she started by taking pictures of friends for fun and then turned into a job.

 

What is their educational background? Although she did not major in photography, she did take photography as an elective in college

 

When you are out shooting a subject, how many shots do you take of one subject? Depends on the package, varies and the purpose. Normally if it is a group shot she takes more than the individual pictures.

 

How much planning is involved in the quest for the “perfect shot?” Depending on who the customer is. She doesn't like to pose people but will if needed.

How much time do you spend with your camera each day? Everyday editing depending on the season normally edits 6 to 10 hours a day.

What type of camera/ equipment do you use? She uses all Cannon equipment including a Cannon 60 and 70.

 

Do you use any programs, such as Lightroom, Photoshop to alter your imagery? Any other software or programs used?  Cadena prefers Photoshop over Lightroom and likes to edit each picture individually, she does not like batch edit. Along with editing towards the customer, and never the same edit.

 

How did you determine what subject matter you photograph- She started in portraits, later in Alaska she sold images of nature and travel. She tries to a just her style on what's popular and read the crowd. She also likes landmarks in states.

Whom are you influenced by in photography (style)- There was a photographer in Alaska that she was influenced by to start when she lived there. Along with being influenced by social media and what work she likes

 

How do you choose your locations/ background-  For the background, she takes input from each person if there is a memory in a spot, then she finds places where the photos work in each location. Then if the customer does not care about the location they can choose between industrial or nature.

 

How do you determine which pictures to edit and post-  The color composition and pose determine which pictures to edit and give. Normally she does not give all pictures to the customer but gives two times the amount of a normal photographer.
